Why
Counter-Attack?
In football, a counter-attack occurs when one of the teams regains the ball possession and moves quickly towards the goal, leaving no room for the opposing team to organize its defenders. This extremely exciting move is the metaphor chosen to narrate the stories of the modality, forbidden by law in Brazil for decades.
In the new temporary exhibition at the Football Museum, the word ACHIEVEMENT presents a much wider sense than reaching the first places in competitions. COUNTER-ATTACK! shows us how women have struggled to win the right to play, have an appropriate uniform, participate in sports management, refereeing, media and freely walk in the bleachers.
WHO IS AFRAID OF GIRLS PLAYING FOOTBALL?
WHICH “FOOTBALL COUNTRY” IS THIS THAT STILL DOES NOT RECOGNIZE, ENCOURAGE NOR RESPECT?
MORE THAN EVER, WE MUST GIVE VOICE TO THOSE IN THE PITCH, FIGHTING FOR VISIBILITY.
AND WE HAVE TO OPEN SPACE TO CELEBRATE
THEIR TALENT AND VICTORIES.
